This week at Play Outdoors Texas, we’ve had the privilege of working with several grandparents looking to maintenance their playsets. All of these grandparents have Backyard Adventures playsets that are at least 15 years old! They are excited to see the next generations of their family playing on a swing set they purchased for their children years ago.
Part of maintaining your playset includes tightening the hardware and making sure the playset is structurally level, but many people only contribute staining their wooden playset to cosmetic appeal only. And, while this is somewhat true, staining a playset is about more than the way it looks.
A good quality wood stain, such as the Backyard Adventures wood stains, can provide protection for your playset against moisture, UV rays, and other outdoor elements. This helps prevent the wood from warping, cracking, or rotting over time; therefore, extending the lifespan of the swing set and reducing the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.
Think about playset stain like sunblock. While sunblock isn’t necessary, we know that exposing our skin to long periods of direct sunlight can cause harm. It’s the same with a playset. Staining a swing set protects it, in the same way sunblock protects our skin.
Keep your playset looking great by keeping the stain up to date, but more importantly, keep the wood surface of your wooden playset protected so that your family can play on it for years to come. Backyard Adventures stain is available at Play Outdoors Texas.
